Using flowers and plants found naturally in the workshops surroundings mean that the colours we create within the collections are directly linked to the colours we at Jack. E. Hebden experience on a daily basis.
While using the flowers and plants to dye with we realised that although it is organic and has freedom to make the colours and patterns they want to, it is also a controllable print and dye process. It was interesting to see the intensity of certain marks while other patches were more 'floaty' and 'mucky'.
We absolutely love the outcome of this process here at Jack. E. Hebden and it’s something we plan to carry out thoroughly going forward. It feels like something that can be transferred into other materials, organic matter and processes in future projects.
